Back
The back of this instrument is a two-piece moderately flamed maple. The maple is quite dense with very good sound velocity characteristics. For hollowing I use a wooden Japanese Mini Convex Compass Plane, and a 47mm ‘thumb’ plane, followed by scrapers.
