Electric MK2 – Take-down

Complete – 2012

This violin is a practice/travel violin.  The instrument is comprised of four pieces which can be assembled and taken apart. Maple neck and body with a wenge fingerboard.   I designed this for my own needs – a functional instrument, with weight and balance identical to an acoustic; but one that can fit easily in a suitcase, can be played quietly, but still operate as an electric instrument when needed.  More images and descriptions are here.

The electric violin, MK I

Complete – 2007

This was my first instrument, made from slightly spalted yellow birch.  This project was undertaken as an exercise in instrument make.   More images and descriptions are here.
