Very Nice. What form are you using? As I recall, wasn’t Titian a PM? Tried to find the form for Lipinski but no success. Its also 1715 but its unclear if A.S. was using a single form that year or if he was bouncing around with different forms. How close is your form to the PM?
Hi Devemch, This form I made early on and is actually derived from The Strad poster for the Titian. The original Titan was built on the P form according to a old Strad article from Feb 2009. According to “Stradivari’s Genius: Five Violins, One Cello, and Three Centuries of Enduring Perfection” the Lipiński was made on the G mold. I’ll be taking the ribs off the mold in the next week or two and I’ll compare it to forms I have to see what my interpretation of the poster ended up being closest to.
Cheers,
Stephen
Thank You. This confirms a suspicion I have had that A.S. DID concurrently utilize multiple forms. I am in the process of getting the french book by Mr. Denis and will try to enter these architypes into SOlidWorks. It would be best to “program” them according to the algorithm but will see how that goes. I would like to see if I can then “extrude” the form and send it to a router. Only recently changed to SW so I am far from comfortable with it. I am extremely curious as to how your interpretation pans out, esp. in terms of how it sounds. I didnt think the form would matter but if you compare acoustics between Titian and Plowden, it presents an interesting differential indeed.
